Our Terroir
Located approximately 6 km northwest of Paarl, Rhebokskloof Wine Estate is nestled within the folds of the Paarl Mountain in a secluded valley. This amphitheatre-like setting, with its northeast and northwest-facing slopes and vineyards planted as high as 340 meters above sea level, is a unique terroir. The combination of agricultural land, indigenous fynbos, and rich granite and black marble soils impart unique characteristics to our wines, piquing your curiosity about the distinctiveness of Rhebokskloof’s wines.
The cool mornings and warm afternoons, influenced by the mountain’s presence, encourage slow and even ripening, resulting in grapes of intense flavour and balanced acidity. This unique environment forms the foundation of our exceptional wines.
Viticultural Practices
At Rhebokskloof Wine Estate, we currently cultivate 36 hectares of vineyards featuring both trellis and bush vines. Our vineyards range in age, with the oldest planted in 2002 and the most recent in 2016. This variety in age and vine structure allows us to produce a diverse array of wine styles.
As our vineyards mature, the quality of our fruit consistently improves, enabling us to select the best blocks and rows to maximise each wine’s distinct character and quality. Harvesting typically begins in late January and concludes in early March as we carefully handpick each cluster to preserve the fruit’s integrity and vibrant flavour.

Our philosophy centres on showcasing the unique terroir of Rhebokskloof by preserving our grapes’ natural fruit aromas and character. Each wine is crafted with a commitment to expression, complexity, and balance, using a minimal intervention approach to allow the vineyard’s character to shine through.

Meet Our Cellarmaster: Rolanie Lotz
Born and raised in Paarl, Rolanie Lotz has established herself as one of South Africa’s leading female winemakers. Since joining Rhebokskloof in 2007, she has propelled the brand into the spotlight with her award-winning wines, earning numerous local and international accolades.
Rolanie’s deep connection to the region and her innovative approach to winemaking has been instrumental in crafting wines that truly embody the essence of Rhebokskloof. Her passion and dedication to precision and quality are evident in every bottle.
