Meet our Rhebokskloof Bride of the Month, Leoné Losper. Leone wed her childhood sweetheart in a beautiful late Boland Winter wedding at Rhebokskloof Estate on 31 August 2024.

Unlike our previous Winter wedding feature, the Lospers wed on a warm, early Spring day showing off sunshine and clear skies. Even though the trees were bare, and the scenery was painted with a mix of deep greens under the soft winter light, Leoné  and her husband, Shimron’s wedding was absolutely magical.

Rhebokskloof Estate has grown to be one of the top winter wedding venues in the Western Cape to date. Our venues offer both outdoor and indoor options which is perfect to accommodate the uncertain Cape weather.

The young couple said ‘I do’ before 50 guests made up of their nearest and dearest family and friends. Let’s read more about this beautiful Winter wedding of a young love that continues to grow stronger.

“From the moment we entered Rhebokskloof we immediately knew that was the venue fit for our outdoor winter wedding!”

Tell us about your and Shimron’s love story.

We met 22 years ago, when I was 7 and he was 8 years old. It was definitely love at first sight, even at such a young age. Our moms worked together and that’s how our play dates started. We then attended the same high school and became best friends. We officially started dating in August 2011. We lost touch after high school but reconnected again in 2017 and became inseparable ever since. This is a fairytale ending, where I got to marry my childhood sweetheart.

You were a beautiful Boland Winter Bride. Tell us the reason for choosing this date.

August holds a special place in our hearts. It’s not only my birthday month, but it’s also when he first asked me to be his girlfriend. Then, in August 2021, we took another big step and got engaged. So, when it came time to choose a meaningful month for us, August was the obvious choice.

Cakes and Donuts, now that’s rather unconventional. Why did you opt for this wedding confectionary?

My husband and I don’t really have a sweet tooth. We chose a smaller cake that we could enjoy the following day with our families, but we definitely did not want guests to miss out on the sweets. So, we had donuts that could be served as a snack later on. After all, who can resist a glazed donut?

It’s clear you chose a nice variety of pastels for the wedding colours and bridal party. Tell us more about this choice in detail.

From all the decisions that needed to be made this was by far the easiest. My favourite colour is dusty pink, my husband’s favourite colour is green. We definitely wanted to incorporate both our favourite colours, and that’s how the colour scheme came about. We also knew the ceremony would be outside, so we wanted everything to be natural and soft

And it blended in so seamlessly.

What made you decide Rhebokskloof was the venue you wanted to tie the knot at?

From the moment we entered Rhebokskloof, we immediately knew that this was the venue fit for our outdoor winter wedding! I am also obsessed with butterflies and when we went for our first viewing of the venue, I saw a butterfly. This just confirmed that Rhebokskloof Estate was the perfect venue.

Briefly tell us a bit about your flowers.

I chose the flowers based on our colour scheme. making it soft and beautiful.

I knew I definitely wanted baby’s breath as it symbolised sincerity, purity and love throughout the ceremony. We also added extra touches to tie it into the nature of the estate.

Let’s talk about your wedding dress. It was stunning.  Tell us why you didn’t opt for a winter styled gown?

As we know in the Mother City, August is considered as one of the rainiest months, but I was determined to have a sunny day. It was pure luck that my wedding day was a hot 29 degrees Celsius with no rain clouds in sight!

You can say I didn’t choose the wedding dress; it chose me. It was the perfect wedding dress for this weather.

Describe your wedding day in your own words.

This is going to be the most cliché answer, but it was the most perfect day. From getting ready in the morning, to being walked down the aisle by my dad, to dancing the night away with my husband It was definitely one of the best days of our lives. Rhebokskloof made everything so perfect from the co-ordination () to the friendly and welcoming staff

The food and drinks were also exceptional

We couldn’t have asked for anything more perfect.

What was your favourite moment or moments from your wedding day?

There were two moments that stood out from the entire day. The first was when we decided to have a ‘first look’ at the set up before the wedding ceremony. It was a beautiful, emotional and touching moment for us.  We chose to do this because it was a private moment we could share with one another before meeting each other at the alter

My second favourite moment would be doing the father-daughter dance. When I was a little girl, my dad would always sing ‘Butterfly Kisses’ by Robert Carlysle. Growing up we always said it would be our song to dance to on my wedding day, and to share that moment with your dad is every little girl’s dream.

Any advice for brides to be out there?

If I can give any advice to anyone planning a wedding, it is to enjoy the planning process. Don’t sweat the little things. In the end it will all come together. Also, some advice I got from a wedding planner, which I would like to pass on to future brides, is to stop for 5 minutes during the day of the wedding and just take it all in and have fun. After all, this is what you have been looking forward to all this time.
